Franco-friendly is...

The term “franco-friendly” is defined as an individual or institutional action or commitment to promoting French-language culture in all its forms, including values and traditions.

Like the term “environmentally friendly,” (or eco-friendly?) which denotes respect for the environment and nature, franco-friendly means showing a strong commitment to respecting and promoting the French-speaking world and its heritage, culture, and language. A franco-friendly person or organization promotes the French language within their surroundings through clear, concrete actions.

The primary goal is to help bring together French speakers from around the world by fostering participation, sharing, and a sense of identity to promote French language and culture.

Through this effort, we hope to preserve this rich heritage so that it may be passed on to present and future generations, ensuring the longevity of the French language and culture.

This term was coined by Hôtel Château Laurier Québec, the first franco-friendly hotel in the Americas, located in Québec City, the capital of the Province of Québec, Canada
